How to Set Up a Neighborhood Food Bank Drop Site
-
Find a container. Use a weatherproof garbage can, plastic tote, or anything sturdy you have on hand.
-
Label it clearly. Print and laminate this PDF if possible, or simply make your own sign. Attach it securely or spell out "Food Bank Drop Site" with duct tape, masking tape, electrical tape, or painter’s tape—whatever works.
-
Choose a visible location. Place your container in a central, easy-to-find spot—near the mailboxes, at a 4-way stop, on your stoop, or by a bus stop.
-
Know your food bank’s drop-off hours. Deliver donations when you’re able to.
-
Trust your community. Let neighbors take food if they need it. You’ll find far more honest takers than you will thieves.
Thank you for supporting your neighbors—and for making it easy for your community to support one another.
